Temporary registration decals may be purchased at Indiana County Treasurer's office.
Boats that must be registered:
1) Powered boats (including electric motors)
2) Boats (powered and unpowered) used at Commission lakes or access areas.
3) Documented vessels used for recreational purposes.
Boats registered in other states meet PA registration requirements if Pennsylvania is NOT the state of principal use. If PA becomes the state of principal use, a boat must be registered in PA within 60 days.
Boats that do not have to be registered:
1) Foreign boats temporarily using the waters of this Commonwealth.
2) Boats owned by the United States and used solely for public service functions such as search and rescue.
3) Lifeboats on ships.
4) Documented vessels used for non-recreational purposes.
