Indiana County Children and Youth Services has provided protective services, case management, and placement programs for children and youth in our county since 1936. The Agency is a part of a network of 67 publicly funded social services agencies representing each county in the commonwealth, which provides services to children, youth, and families under legal mandate, the County Code, and Department of Public Welfare Regulations. The goal of Children and Youth Services is to ensure that each child has a permanent, legally assured family which protects the child from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

1. Mandated to conduct investigations of child abuse when allegations are made of sexual, physical, emotional or serious physical neglect.
2. Provide services to prevent and resolve problems of neglect, abuse and exploitation of children.
3. Provide services to families in their own homes which protect children from continued harm.
4. Help overcome problems which result in dependency.
5. Provide temporary substitute care for children in need of care out of their homes.
6. Reunite children and their families if children are placed in substitute care.
7. Provide court-ordered care or supervision to alleged or adjudicated dependent children.
8. Provide permanency for children, through the legal system, for those children who cannot be returned home.
9. Responsible for the recruitment, training and administration of foster care homes within our community.
