THE HONORABLE
WILLIAM J. MARTIN,
PRESIDENT JUDGE

          The Honorable William J. Martin graduated from Indiana Area High School in 1972 and from Washington and Jefferson College in 1976. He received his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern School of Law in 1978.

           Judge Martin has served as Judge of the Indiana County Court of Common Pleas since June, 1991 and was sworn in as President Judge on September 11, 1998.

           Prior to becoming Judge he was a member of the law firm Miller, Miller and Martin from 1984-1991. He is a member of the Indiana, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations; the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association.

           He has served as District Attorney for Indiana County from 1984-1991; Assistant District Attorney from 1980-1984; former Solicitor for Conemaugh Township, Brush Valley Township and the Indiana County Housing Authority.

           Judge Martin is married to Janet E. Liegey; they have four children and reside in White Township.
